Travel Vaccines

Travel vaccines

Protect yourself and your loved ones with Whickham Pharmacy’s travel clinic.

If you’re planning to travel outside of the UK, we encourage you to research into some of the serious diseases that are found in various parts of the world, and the vaccines that’ll help protect you from them. Potential infections include yellow fever, hepatitis A, and typhoid disease.

As well as vaccinations, we also offer a variety of tablets that may also compliment your trip away, such as jet lag and altitude sickness prevention.

      FAQs

What vaccines do I need for my trip?

The answer to this question will vary from location to location, so please seek advice from a professional at Whickham Pharmacy. For example, the yellow fever virus is found in tropical and subtropical areas of Africa and South America, whereas Typhoid disease is most common in non-industrialised countries such as in Asia and Eastern Europe.

When should I consider getting vaccinated?

We recommend that you secure pre travel advice around 6-8 weeks prior to your departure to allow enough time for full courses and travel health guidance. For example, Hepatitis A and Typhoid vaccines can take up to 2 weeks to give protective levels.

      Do travel vaccinations hurt?

As with most injections, you may feel a mild stinging sensation when the vaccine is administered, but this will only last a few sections. The staff at Whickham Pharmacy is well experienced and trained, and will reassure you every step of the way.
